Hotel Nijver

Very central location, would have received five stars, but three drawbacks: 1. the beds have these thin top mattresses, which are not attached or secured with velcro. So every time you turn it slups and before you know it you fall off the bed 2. breakfast is not great value for money 3. the rooms at the front have single glazing, so you can hear every sound from the square. Owners: time for double or triple glazing, offer more choice for breakfast (or lower the price) and put some velcro on the mattresses

Its an "ok" sort of place, seems like it's run by kids or students mainly , I didn't much like being sternly informed at 2200 hours, when I asked if we could have another drink that it would be "your last one" . Only to find that the reason was that they wanted to have their own little after hours staff disco party . Not particularly welcoming but on the positive side, we had some particularly good food from there the following morning.

The first time we stayed they didn’t change the sheets once in 5 days. The housekeeping was very poor. The bathrooms had mould in room 3. The second time they stuck us in a dark dingy room at the back. Hot as an oven. The third time they gave us a room which was even dingier next to the blasting music outside on the Main Street which they thought was suitable to sell as a hotel room. They have us a portable Aircon that could only be used if the window was left open. Our host said that we should have asked for a silent room. Seriously what do they except people to do? Sleep only after midnight despite having to get up at 8 for an early flight? The housekeeping is so noisy & was sitting on the terrace of a room they were servicing 2 meters away from us talking loudly & smoking while we were having a cup of tea in the morning and enjoying the quietude. Well our sad & sorry experience at this hotel.
