Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto

Very well located and central hotel in Kyoto. It is a $10 cab ride from Kyoto station and central to many of the areas attractions. Staff are highly attentive, and go above and beyond to help. Our bags were out of our cab before I had settled the bill. Check in was equally fast. The rooms are huge, as are the bathrooms. Amenities are plentiful, and abundant. Two bottles of drinking water are provided daily but several conbinis are within a 2-3 minute walk. The rooms are impeccably clean, pyjamas are changed daily and the rooms are cleaned promptly on request. The lobby is large and ornate. There are several restaurants which we did not try, but they looked good. Breakfast had many choices, both western and Japanese. This is a very good place to stay in Kyoto and if you are thinking to visit, do not hesitate to book.

Pros- Hotel was a great location and close to everything. Parking onsite was a plus. Rooms were larger size. Beds were standard size twin. Con- breakfast is on the higher end and only one room key is given. Often get locked out of my room because we all accessed the room at different times. Have to ask front desk to let me in.

This hotel is overrated and overpriced. For a 350$ per night hotel you have high expectations, but it’s very old, the rooms are smelly, there are not lot of power outlets, and they only accept cash for the luggage service. Be prepared to give 2500 Yen per luggage if you’d like to ship them to Osaka. We paid 2100yen from Tokyo to Kyoto which is a lot father… The only positive aspect was the location, walking distance (less than 25min) from popular places and good restaurants. But there are many hotel around it that was more modern and better priced! Save your money!!
