Large, quiet lobby with various seating choices and a nice view out to the garden at the back. The building itself is not particularly attractive, and it’s not too easily reached on foot, but the hotel itself is decent. Small display in the lobby about the history of the Ōkura hotel group, including the obviously high priority information that the first telephones in hotel bathrooms in Japan were introduced by Ōkura.

Nice stay. It is a big hotel with a retro feel that other reviews have noted - but it is very comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Room was nicely sized for four of us, lovely view over the bay, and a short walk to the lovely port area with the Mosaic restaurants and tourist craft shops. We do need to mention one issue though: the hotel has a lovely indoor pool (25m) and a well equipped gym - but hotel guests need to pay to use them ($20 each time for the pool) which is a shame - doesn’t really feel like a hotel amenity in those circumstances; yet you wouldn’t know as you look around with posters everywhere.
