Hotel Oriente

We visited as part of our Golden Wedding anniversary celebrations and had an amazing stay. Our room was clean and comfortable and the balcony gave stunning views over to Mount Vesuvius. The restaurant was well set out, and each of the evening meals we had was beautifully cooked and presented. The buffet breakfasts were a perfect start to the day. All the staff were extremely professional and friendly. The train station is a 5 minute walk away and is on the Naples - Sorrento line so accessing them as well as Pompeii and Herculaneum was very straightforward. We really liked the location, being outside the bigger towns it was quiet but still with all the facilities we needed.

We had the best time here at the hotel - food, wine, sunsets, private beach and incredible staff: On arrival we were greeted by the lovely receptionist who explained about the hotel and important information. When we got to our room we initially thought that we didn't have a balcony which we'd paid for but once we were shown how to access it we realised we had hit the jackpot and we had an enormous balcony!! Check my photo of the Hotel Oriente, the faux grass balcony was ours!! We went half board and booked with TUI, so continental breakfast buffet and a 5 course evening meal from a set menu. We stayed for a fortnight and ate at the hotel most nights, the menu was varied and during our fortnight stay we noticed that it isn't a set mon-sun menu, there weren't many 'recycled' menu items so there was always something different to try during our stay. We ate out a few nights, in Vico we ate at Cerase and Pizza a Metro, both of which were delicious. The views from the hotel are absolutely beautiful, see my first picture, you can see the main road and a castle(?) at the top of the opposite cliff and then a view all the way down to the beach and the sea. In the evening there are perfect sunsets every night which you can watch from the dining room The private beach was exactly what we wanted - it was small and had an area for the Vico Equense locals who filled out the cove at the weekends, in the week it's quiet. On arrival we were told that you are only permitted 2 x beach visits per week included in your stay, we visited more often than this though. The view from the beach is magnificent - the cliffs enclosed you in the beach area and make a stunning view and then mount Vesuvius is visibly looming over you at all times!! Transportation and tourism is super easy from Vico Equense - the circumvesuviana which runs from Naples to Sorrento via Pompeii is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, and there is a bus terminus outside the station. Usually we pay for excursions with a TUI rep, but they were based in Sorrento and we didn't need a rep to organise any trip, we plannes our own tours including an overnight stay in Rome, spa visit in Sorrento, Pompeii, quad biking up Mount Faito (download Be.IT app). Sorrento port has ferries to Naples, Capri, Positano and Amalfi so these are accessible locations too. Last but certainly not least - the staff at Hotel Oriente made this a holiday to remember. The bar, waitress team and reception staff are a small team and they work exceptionally hard, we had the same 4 team members of bar and waiting staff on shift for breakfast and dinner during our fortnight stay. They work tirelessly and always greeted us with a smile and cheery Buongiorno or Buonasera!! By the end of our holiday, despite limited English and our non existent Italian speaking we could communicate well enough to make friendly conversation and have a laugh with the team!! Hotel Oriente should be extremely proud of these members of staff, they are an asset to the hotel and they made our holiday extra special. We have never returned to the same hotel twice, but we plan on returning to the Hotel Oriente for many of its benefits, the staff being a key reason for our return. Grazie mille 🥰

As a woman i wouldn't feel safe in this hotel due to what happened to their staff. The structure should screen properly before hiring managers to avoid scandals.
