Very beautiful hotel to get away from the city. Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and stayed 5 nights. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly, as was every member of staff. Breakfast and restaurant team are very friendly and greet with a smile every time. The hotel surroundings are stunning, and the views are spectacular. Definitely being a car as it's very rural. 10 minutes to Bilbao airport and 15 minutes to the city.
The hotel is at a beautiful and convenience location near the Bilbao airport and is very calm. The room is big and has a good shower. However, the beds are old and there was a lot of dust on the floor. The service in this hotel is not great: we weren’t satisfied of the restaurant offerings (don’t go there, it’s a total disaster, read my other review). But upon checking out there was no room for that. They never asked how our stay was and just checked out while talking to colleagues. For a luxury golf hotel this is below par. Room for improvement here!
The building and grounds are impressive, the staff are welcoming and kind, breakfast is more than you would want. Here it comes! The down side, the room was dirty, weeks of dust on skirting boards, long hairs in shower tray( not mine I'm bald). Public areas are tired and need decorating, toilet between bar and reception have not been cleaned properly for months, looks like they just mop and wipe the taps. Walls and floors are like a like a street toilet, So now we come my experience of the food. Only ordered a burger for the bar. (Safe choice) No it wasn't, all four of us had to send out food back, mine was raw in the middle ice cold, just a guess but looks like it was cooked from pre prepared frozen, so sent back, the waiter returned it looked like it had been microwaved, so back it went. (Caveat, I am a head chef of 25 years) What came back looked like it had been kicked around the kitchen. I took a bite and couldn't even swallow it. I think this is the all time worst experience I have had in any hotel. My father has stayed here twelve times , I have no idea why, I'm going to get him checked for dementia.
