We were very happy with our choice to stay at the Paradox Hotel and also pleasantly surprised. We found the hotel charming and a nice fit for the beach town. The lobby was cute and the pool area and games were a good time. All of the staff was warm and helpful and the hotel hosted cute little things to do, like roasting marshmallows around the pool fire. The local coffee in the lobby was also a nice touch. Even though there were lots of families staying there and enjoying the pool, the place was well built and stayed quite inside the room. When we left our interior car light on by mistake, the security team got in touch with us to turn it off so we didn't wake up to a dead battery. Priced well too!

For the premium paid to stay at this property, I expect better. Water was always empty at the pool, chair covers were stained and generally dirty. Coffee was empty in the lobby in the morning. I was locked out of my room twice due to faulty key cards. The rooms don't have a chair to sit in other than the desk chair. The creamer for in room coffee was expired. Staff was friendly and apologetic, the bar was great, and other than the dirty chairs at the pool, the pool was nice. Beds were comfortable. At half the nightly rate, this would be OK, but not at the premium charged.

*Updating from 2 stars to 1 star on July 30th because the staff response still doesn’t include an apology. Nobody wants to stay at a hotel with rude staff. As someone in customer service I cannot reiterate this enough* The pool and amenities are nice and the only reason it receives 2 stars. The housekeeping staff were the only kind staff I encountered. And that only lasted so long. Upon checking in, I was immediately locked out of the room because the metal safety latch closed behind me. Didn’t know this was physically possible. Luckily I called the front desk using the phone by the elevator and they got sassy with me. When they came to open the room they didn’t apologize and implied it was my fault the safety latch closed behind me. The front desk failed to tell me this frequently can happen because the curtain will push the safety latch closed. Considering that I never had stayed at that hotel I’m not sure how I would have known that. Also found hair in my food when I ordered from the pool and you can see in the photos below. At that there was no point in letting the staff know because they behaved so unprofessionally when I was locked out of my room. Maybe I would return here for a day pass at the pool, but I do not recommend staying overnight. It will be a miserable experience.
