Hotel Pensione Ottaviani

Very affordable hostel in a gorgeous city. Excellent location within walking distance of all the sighs and attractions, as well as the main station, while still being in a good neighborhood with shops restaurants and a laundry nearby. Would highly recommend based on the value and location, but for a short stay as the beds are not entirely comfortable.

Very friendly staff, and very helpful- gave us tips for good food and cheaper gelato placed. The staff was the only reason I didn't give this place 2 stars. We got upgraded to a larger room, which wasn't that great. The in-room shower did not have doors. Also there was no mirror in the room at all. At night it was very loud because the windows didn't seal close. The radiator leaked water everywhere over night. The staff was very good about fixing it up and cleaning the room. The bed was firm but acceptable, need more pillows though. Washrooms were all clean and had hot water most of the day, though could smell funky. The location is prime. There is a lift. Otherwise it's up around 3 floors by stairs.

Like everyone mentioned, the staff was really wonderful. Shared all the best eating places we should try. Very pleasant and friendly. But the room was hot, couldn't close the windows, needed air (no air con on a hot summer day can be very stifling) noise from street level was awful. Couldn't sleep well. But location is great- walkable everywhere. So works as a transit hotel, but don't expect more
