Amazing place, good service and food was very tasty. Had some very nice chats with the owner and would definitely come back if we visit Mexico (and Bacalar) again. A little paradise for us for good relaxation. Kayaking alongside the lagoon was amazing. Kayaks were free to use.
Stay Away! Nightmare Hotel Experience. The location is the only slightly redeeming factor here, but don’t be fooled. From day one, it was clear this place has no idea how to run a hotel. No towels in the room, no staff in sight, and the restaurant? It supposedly opens at 2 pm, yet by 2:30, not a single staff member was there. Service is nearly nonexistent. As you can see in the photo, food left out for more than 24 hours became an ant buffet. Trash is left out for days. WiFi works maybe 10% of the time. We ended up helping ourselves to coffee one morning because, yet again, no staff were around at 7 am. What we found was disgusting: filthy dishes stacked in the sink, the whole bar area looked like a health hazard. Food seemed questionable at best, so we bought our own groceries to avoid any potential food poisoning. We booked their “top” room, but the curtains didn’t fully cover the floor-to-ceiling windows, so we had to figure out our own way to get some privacy. On Monday, we were the only guests left, with just two staff members lounging around, ignoring the mess piling up. The management is obviously cheap, with just one person expected to handle everything from reception to cooking, and it shows. To make matters worse, they flagged us on Booking.com for supposedly not paying our bill. I had to go through a ridiculous process, sending proof of payment to clear my profile. This hotel doesn’t just neglect its duties—it actively tries to cover them up. Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This place is a disaster. The location is passable, but that’s where the positives end. From day one, it was clear we were on our own. No towels in the room, no staff in sight, and no one to open the restaurant until well after its supposed opening time of 2 pm. By 2:30, still no one in sight. The service? Nonexistent. As shown in the attached photo, food left out for over 24 hours, now crawling with ants. Garbage piling up, left to rot for days. The WiFi, on the rare occasion it functions, is barely usable. Mornings were an ordeal—forced to serve ourselves coffee by rummaging behind the bar because, yet again, no staff to be found at 7 am. What greeted us was a scene of utter neglect: filth and grime, dishes stacked high in the sink. If this is the state of the bar, I dread to think about the kitchen. Food seemed old, suspiciously preserved, pushing us to buy groceries just to avoid food poisoning risks. We booked the “best” cottage room, only to find floor-to-ceiling windows with curtains that don’t cover the glass. We had to improvise just to get some privacy. By Monday, we were the only guests, left in a ghost hotel with two staff members who lounged around, scrolling on their phones amidst a sea of dirty dishes and neglected spaces. Management’s cost-cutting is painfully obvious—they’ve got one person covering reception, kitchen, bar, and service, and it’s failing miserably. Avoid this place unless you want a lesson in how little a hotel can care.
