Hotel Playa Azul Cozumel

Exceptional resort at a reasonable price. The staff was amazing! The hotel is right on the beach. Crystal clear water and soft sand. You can snorkle on the beach, and they have a dock for excursions like diving. They have lots of beach chairs and the hotel and beach are kept amazingly clean and groomed. They have two pools, but no public jacuzzi. We did get a room with a private jacuzzi on our balcony. The room was very spacious with a large living room and mini refrigerator. The restaurant in the hotel had a hot free buffet breakfast every day. They even made omelets to order. They also served lunch and dinner, and our dinner was amazing! They have a tiki bar on the beach and also a huge outdoor, open-air facility for lunch, and they had a band play in the afternoon from 2 - 5pm, where some couples danced to Latin music. The staff again was amazing from check-in to the maid service every day, servers and bar staff. The hotel is also close to town, and the ferry dock (11 minutes). I highly recommend "food tour with Julio," nicest man you will ever meet. The hotel is also very quiet, there are mostly couples and families. We highly recommend Playa Azul Cozumel Hotel. We will definitely be back. We loved the hotel and Cozumel.

I spent two weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The vibe is laid-back, and it feels like you're actually in Mexico compared to the sterile, Americanized Westin next door—even the musicians who performed at the hotel bar were outstanding and authentic vs. the John Mayer-esque pretty boy who I listened to in the Westin lobby. The breakfast is excellent, although I recommend exploring the restaurants across the street or in the city center for later meals. I strongly prefer the beach setup at Play Azul to that of the neighboring beach clubs and hotels. We did spend extra for the ocean-facing room with a jacuzzi on the balcony; I highly recommend doing so. The staff addressed every issue that arose quickly and professionally. If I return to Cozumel, I will definitely stay at the Playa Azul again.

Quiet hotel on a beautiful reef. Highly recommend snorkeling off the beach to see tropical fish. The area felt very safe and a cab is only 150 pesos to go into the town. Rooms were a bit outdated and the towels were very thin, mattress firm by US standards, and restaurant only ok (breakfast was the best meal with an eggs made to order station). Good for couples looking to relax - there’s not much of a party scene in the evenings compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at.
