Hotel Playa Manglares Isla Baru

We had a fantastic stay at Playa Manglares: place is as described in other reviews, a little oasis of peace and nature. The staff is incredibly friendly and the owner, Olga, gives the place a warm and personal touch. The food was really tasty, menu is varied enough to spend a few days without repeating too much. My family and I (2 little kids) loved our room, with a balcony overlooking the sea. Most rooms do not have AC, but the sea breeze cooled the room down so we did not miss it at all. There are a few great activities to do around Baru, all of them a few minutes away by car. We especially enjoyed the trip to the Rosario islands and the day at the Aviary.

We didn't stay at the hotel; we just stopped by for lunch after visiting the aviary. It's a very peaceful spot and the food was really good. Just be aware that there is no a/c - but plenty of shade under the trees. The water is calm and shallow - great for kids. If you want to drop by for a meal you should let the hotel know the day before. Do yourself a favor and skip Playa Blanca on the other side of the island - there are so many people trying to prey on tourists there.

We loved our stay at Hotel Mangalares. It’s a secluded place with everything you need for a getaway on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. All staff were very kind and helpful. The food served was wonderful, for breakfast, lunch and diner. The private beach is lovely to relax on. We would highly recommend staying here.
