Hotel Punta Rossa

A wonderful sleepy hotel hidden on the side of the mountain. It was slow while we were there (late September). It felt very intimate & private. The aesthetics of the place are top notch. Beautiful gardens, walkways, rooms, balconies, etc… the weather was fine but our room was frequently warm which is probably our only complaint. The staff was wonderful.

My family has been coming to this hidden gem for generations. The last time I was here was when I was 17, 17 years ago. It’s more beautiful than ever! They’ve kept up the hotel so nicely and it’s a little piece of antiquity nestled away on the side of a mountain. The views are gorgeous, the staff goes above and beyond, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are modest and simple. The bathrooms are large. This is the type of hotel that will leave a lasting memory. And you will get tons of beautiful photos, be able to unwind and enjoy the sounds and smells of the water, and right near a lot of restaurants and shops if you decide to go into town. The breakfast and dinner are wonderful and you could eat every meal here if you would like to from different points of views, each of them with their own breathtaking perspective.

Gully flies and missing help ... but a nice spot! We spend 5 days here, after the first 3 days I would have given 5 stars here. The room (for the first 3 days) was bright and clean and the bathroom seems to be renewned shortly with a very nice shower with a stone floor. But, for the 2 last days we had to switch to another room. The room was older in generel with older tiles, but well ok for the style of the house. Unfortunately we realised "Gully Flies" (we also call them toilet flies, in italiano "mosca dell´aborto") - you can google them but the name says everything - in the bathroom and in the bedroom. So we killed 15-20 of them and reported this to the reception (2 pm). After the beach stay there was no improvement of the situation, so we reported again in the evening after killing .... Before sleeping we again killed all flies and closed all doors to have a night without gullies. Next day at 3pm the first action was taken (24h later) from the cleaning staff, but no improvement. We found the shower sink and the aircondition as source of the flies. Now the lady at the reception (she was the oldest woman here, very interested in our problem and willing to do something) called for someone else who treated the room. It was better thereafter, but in the morning the flies returned. No one is responsible for these flies to appear, but in a 4 star hotel you expect an interest of the staff in your problem and an immediate try to solve this. Also we paid the full price - no reduction - no "Sorry for the inconvinience" or an invitation for a coffee - this is not about money, it is a manner you learn at home and you should have as a human, especially as host. We are obvious not as rich as the common guests here - but in our only holiday this year we should NOT have to care about hygenical staff like that. It´s obvious that some guests are treated more respectfully then others here. Take a look at the your beach/pool guys - they understand the idea of service, for everyone! - Especially for them: Thank you very much guys, you are great ******* ! Also thanks to the room ladies***** !
