We stayed at Hotel Querceto for one week during our wedding celebrations in Malcesine (in May), and honestly couldn’t have picked a more perfect place! We got married at Malcesine Castle, and Hotel Querceto served as the perfect base for us and some of our guests. Highlights: The hotel tucked up towards the mountains, with breathtaking views over Lake Garda. Though the views were spectacular the highlight for us was the incredible staff. From the moment we booked, Valentina went above and beyond — answering all our questions, helping us plan, and even organising our wedding dinner at the hotel restaurant, ‘La Stua’. Nothing was too trouble and they added a personal, caring touch in everything they did. A special shoutout to Valentina and Ellie, who were absolute stars the whole week. And Joseph, the shuttle driver, was lovely and friendly too! Hotel/Room: The hotel itself is cosy and charming, with a chalet-style feel in the reception and lounge areas. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which was clean, stylish, modern, and incredibly comfortable. We had a stunning view of the gardens, lake, and mountains each morning! We also loved the wellness area, the outdoor jacuzzi and sauna overlooking the lake was also a selling point for us, and the indoor pool was perfect for the rainy days. I highly recommend treating yourself to their floating breakfast, around 40 euros. Transport: The hotel offers a shuttle into Malcesine town three times a day, which was handy. The only small suggestion we’d have is a later return option in the evening, as the last one was at 5:30pm. Taxis are also available, the hotel can call own for you or there’ll provide you with a number for a local one we used Sebastian - good service, friendly and spoke great English! Breakfast: Breakfast was a continental buffet with a good selection — no hot food to order, but plenty to choose from. Our wedding dinner, though, was exceptional. We chose from the à la carte menu at La Stua, and the food was delicious. Valentina even decorated the table beautifully and surprised us with a printed menu. Christian was another standout, always smiling and making us feel so welcome. Overall, this was an incredible, emotional, and unforgettable week. Highly recommend - the views, the food, the spa… and most of all, the people, really make this place special and we’re already dreaming about coming back!!
The view from this hotel is absolutely breathtaking BUT that’s about it. Overall quality, service, and value is more of a 3 star hotel which is in need of major renovations and change of management ASAP. The pool is falling apart and no one picks up empty glasses or trash. Guests and staff were smoking in all outdoor areas of the hotel including the pool and outdoor terrace and balconies. There is an overall lack of attention to detail and it’s evident in the rooms as well. Rooms are dark and outdated. The balconies dirty and falling apart. They use the most disgusting room and hotel perfume and despite asking them not to spray our room they kept doing it. For migraine sufferers or those with allergies this will be a nightmare. Breakfast was a 2/5 - overall cheap products with not enough variety of fruits or vegetables. For the price paid and the location I would NOT recommend this hotel.
We chose this hotel based on its stars and reviews, hoping to celebrate a birthday in comfort and beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be a major disappointment. First and foremost, the spa area is severely neglected. There are large, visible patches of mold on the walls and floor — a serious health concern. The jacuzzi water was cloudy and contained hair, plastic debris, and dust. The space was dark, stuffy, and unpleasant to be in. There were no benches to sit and relax, and the contrast showers were malfunctioning — many water sensors didn’t work or sprayed unpredictably. Overall, the spa area shows clear signs of poor hygiene and maintenance. The same applies to the outdoor jacuzzi: the water was murky, full of hair, and the filter was visibly clogged with dirt (photos attached). Shockingly, this jacuzzi is used for “romantic breakfasts” served on floating trays. Unfortunately, the room was no exception. We booked the most expensive lake-view room, but even it lacked proper renovation for the price. Additionally, the room was very small. That said, we appreciated the complimentary robes, slippers, shampoo, lotion, scrub, coffee, and tea provided in the room — a nice touch. The shower was clogged, and water leaked all over the floor — judging by the swollen bathroom door, this has been a long-standing issue. The air conditioner was extremely noisy and gave off an unpleasant smell. The terrace flooring was damaged by moisture and, seemingly, termites. To make matters worse, parking is charged at €10 per day. On the positive side, the property grounds are very beautiful — with green lawns, swings, and sun loungers — and breakfast was tasty and varied. The staff was friendly and polite. However, when we raised our concerns, they seemed surprised, simply shrugged, and told us they would fix the issues. It’s unfortunate to leave a review like this, but the gap between expectations and reality was simply too large to ignore.
