Hotel Quinta da Bica D'Água

Very beautiful and well located, the rooms are very nice although a bit dirty, and the hotel staff could be nicer.

The location is ideal if you need to visit UFSC (University of Santa Catarina). The room and the breakfast are very good and the garden is phenomenal. On the other hand, avoid the restaurant: bland food and very slow service.

Breakfast on the sound of chainsaws and trees falling I came back to this place after almost ten years and what I found was highly disappointing and sad... Quinta da Bica used to be a sanctuary in the middle of the city, but nearly all the trees were gone when I arrived. What was worst and more dramatic was the fact they were still in the process of removing the trees while I was there. I asked some of the employees, and everyone was full of discontent. "The owner went crazy", they said. Indeed, I saw the old man, the property owner, giving orders to cut the trees from the land with my own eyes. I believe what has happened is a crime because there was no reason or project to justify cutting all the trees. Actually, I heard someone saying the reason was simply to eliminate the job of cleaning the falling leaves.
