Hotel Ravie Kawaryo

The place is very traditional and a bit dated. the staff doesn't speak English very well. But the service here is immaculate, best in the country. We got a room and it smelled smoky and the front desk worker got us a new room immediately super late at night and made our futons too. He explained everything as best as he could, and was incredibly polite the whole time. Despite the other reviews this place is so accommodating, Heavily recommended, would come again.

Charm of a traditional onsen hotel. Some facilities look dated but overall clean. Very good buffet dinner and breakfast.

Based on some of the extremely negative reviews that I read here on this platform, I assume the worst, but was pleasantly surprised overall. I was the only visible western person I could see. There is almost no English signage. First time ever in one of these types of resorts that I saw a guy with a tattoo. It was subtle, written on his inner arm, but when he reached for a plate, I couldn’t help but notice it. He looked like a bit of a thug very big machine-tanned with an earring. I guess no one noticed his tattoo when he checked in. I’m glad I didn’t run into him in the sauna. If I had a lot more money, I would’ve stayed at the Hoshino KAI down the street but as it was, I was happy for the value that this place provided. Lots of families with young kids on a holiday weekend. I have no real complaints. We got what we paid for. I wish I had more time to walk around the city. It looks really nice here.
