I cannot recommend this place. First of all, it claims to be a 4-star hotel, but it clearly isn't. Facilities and services typical of such a hotel like room service or a kettle in the room are missing completely, not to mention everything else you might expect. The hotel claims to have a restaurant, but actually aside from the breakfast buffet there is only a small bistro/bar with a selection of four kinds of obscenely overpriced sandwiches and drinks. Worse yet, they don't tell you this when making the booking or on any third party website, but you are not allowed to bring / order food or drinks in from outside!! From a business perspective this makes no sense since the hotel has no restaurant to capitalize on this, and from a guest perspective it is very inconvenient. The rooms have a minifridge, but what is it actually *for* if you can't put food or drinks in it? After seeing the room I did not feel comfortable with the tap water, and since the two complementary bottles provided were not adequate for a 3-day stay, we had no choice but to smuggle water bottles from the supermarket past the front desk. Since we were not aware of this rule until after arrival, we already had some food and drinks in our luggage anyway, I'm not sure how they intend to enforce this ridiculous rule. We arrived a few hours early, but luckily the front desk managed to have a room for us within 30 minutes, that was a pleasant surprise. The room was worn down: the knob that locks the door from the inside was loose and fell off constantly, and the top doorhinge had completely snapped apart. The rest was passably clean and our room, number 410, was relatively quiet as it faced away from the street. Unfortunately it was also the home of a mosquito and a number of woodlice. This normally would not bother me much but was just another one of many problems I had during my stay. The charging port seems to charge very slowly and the wifi is a bit dodgy sometimes. I have seen other reviews remark on the good service they experienced here. Aside from the early check-in I mentioned, I had no such experience. When we needed a taxi for the airport, I had to ask more than once for the front desk to call the service for us - at one point the receptionist offered to drive us to the destination himself, with his private car, at the same cost as the taxi. ??? This and the constantly watching football on the job demonstrated a real lack of professionalism that gave the whole place an air of untrustworthiness. About the only good thing I can say for this hotel is the location, albeit with caveats. It is well-situated for excursions to the historic district, and the way to Porta Nolana or the central station is about a 20 minute walk which is fairly doable. You are surrounded on all sides by an enormous variety of restaurants and cafes, some of which are even actually worth a visit. The caveat I must add though is that while the main road, Via Foria, feels relatively safe, the side roads have really seen better days and I wouldn't suggest walking far along them alone at night. You need to go down them to make it to the train stations, so plan the trip accordingly.
