Nice hotel with great location. Tasty breakfast. Very helpful staff. Rooms are clean and great place to go to sauna after cold day on Helgoland.

Location and garden are good, nice view from room over the harbour. Breakfast is good, restaurant is not exactly a bargain and food is ok. The problem is that the rooms are rather small. And the area leading to the sauna and fitness room is usually rather messy and clustered with things, due to the fact that everyone leaves their luggage in that area before the boat leaves. The fitness room has just 4-5 things in it, and is very packed with random sofas and chairs, as if one would hold a conversation while someone else is working out. I don’t see the point of having such a room, but perhaps they need this room for a rating of 4 stars… One of the receptionists was very friendly, the other one not so… Especially when asked when the broken lift could be fixed, she only gave an answer like “I cannot give you any guarantees.” Well, there are many ways to deliver a message but such a blunt and distant reply shall not be from someone who is working a service industry job. Giving context like “someone will come and take a look today” would be helpful to guests of the hotel.

The problem we found is that the rooms are only serviced on demand. I see the problems getting enough trained staff but for the charged price and 4 stars I expect more. Staff was very friendly, but the training leaves room for improvement. If the problems are solved I would give 5 stars.
