The receptions are friendly and thanks for the room with great view as I requested😍. Room was comfy and clean. The bathroom has smart toilet bowl. View from the breakfast on 12floor is fantastic. Walking distance ±10minutes to XMD.
Review of Hotel Riverview Taipei. Fifth floor. Our experience at Hotel Riverview Taipei was deeply disappointing, especially as foreign guests. From the moment we arrived, the service was cold and unwelcoming — no greeting, no hospitality, just an intimidating and unfriendly atmosphere. Only one physical room key is provided, and it’s oddly designed: attached to a large plastic fob that also functions as the power switch for the room. This means that if one person leaves with the key, the other is left without power or air conditioning. Returning to a hot, stuffy room each day was unpleasant, to say the least. The condition of the room is not just dated — it's archaic. Fixtures like the faucet, toilet flush handle, and bathtub controls have been replaced with low-grade, mismatched parts that look like they belong in a public restroom. Patches and repairs were done with excessive caulking, highlighting rather than hiding the underlying issues. Cleanliness was a serious concern. The bathroom was very tight, small, dirty, and littered with long hair from previous guests. With no ventilation or suction fan, the bathroom became a humid, suffocating space. It felt like being in a jungle — damp, sticky, and hard to breathe. The toilet seat was 1 inch from the tub, 1 inch from the sink, and 1 inch from the swinging door (this is not an exaggeration) and meant we always hit our legs. The built-in hairdryer didn’t work and looked like a relic from the 1980s. The air conditioning emitted a foul odor when turned on, and the wall-mounted thermometer was broken — it spun freely with the lightest touch. The heater function also failed, blowing cold air instead. Wi-Fi was slow and unstable, averaging just 26 Mbps. We had to rely on our own mobile data to stay connected. The only redeeming feature of this hotel is its location. Otherwise, the property is in desperate need of a full renovation. It’s hard to believe anyone could give this hotel five stars in good faith. Unless there’s a major investment and a complete overhaul, I absolutely do not recommend staying here. We were genuinely relieved to check out.
This hotel may have been the creme dela creme back in the days...but it is way past its glory days. Im shocked to see so many 5 star reviews. Honestly...the only positive is the space of the room. It is larger than the typical hotel room and you don't have that claustrophobic feeling. However, it comes at a cost.... 1. The hotel is OLD and dated. The cracks have been showing already. You can definitely feel it's past its prime. There are so many band aid fixes in the room that sooner or later a bigger issue is bound to arise..ie haphazard chaulking job behind the sink 2. No ventilation or dehumidifier. The air in the room feel so damp. The mirrors are constantly foggy after showers. 3. The bathroom is atrocious. You cannot go into the bathroom and not have the door hit you or tiuch to close it. It's so cramped inside. You have to straddle the toilet just to close the door 4. Not as clean as it should be. There are long hairs all over the bathroom 5. Dim and dark. The lights are just not bright enough in the rooms at night I would not stay here again and dont recommend it unless you have no other choice.
