Hotel Royal

Nice hotel right next to the lake. Great pool. The only thing letting it down are the rooms look a little dated and the aircon seems to go off at 6am every morning so we all woke up sweating as the rooms become hot as soon as it turns off. It was August.

Not four stay. We stayed here in early September for two nights. A lovely looking hotel externally and the public area is also attractive and welcoming. As we arrived we were welcomed but left to deal with our own luggage. My husband and I aged 75 and 79. Generally staff were aloof and not helpful during our stay and this was specifically the case during breakfast by the one staff member who stood looking haughtily across the room not asking guests if they needed anything. We ate at 9.15 on the first morning offered coffee which came in a small cup mostly froth and were never offered any more. Breakfast looked huge spread across several tables but not palatable some of it. Cheese two choices, lots of bread ALL WHITE, but no rolls that morning, fruit was limited to apples and plums, and prunes, cereals were not health based ie no nuts to add no milk on the tables, fruit juices sugar added and the only cooked option scrambled eggs with bacon. No vegetarian option it was cold and smelt foul. Good croissants though. Next day we ate at 8.30 still no brown bread still the same haughty waitress. Our room at the side overlooking the cafes was comfortable, lots of lovely fluffy towels and toiletries though small and the shower TINY. Im not the smallest human certainly not the biggest; how some including the elderly or mobility compromised manage would be impossible. The pool is a joy as are the surrounding gardens. This is never four star. Three star yes but looking for a bit of luxury in our hols this disappointed.

I would have expected more from a four-star hotel. The location is great, it is very near to the lake. Very kind and helpful personnel at reception. The structure is wonderful, clean and well decorated, the room was not too big but the bathroom was spacious. No complementary bottle of water was offered. Normally I found complementary water (sometimes welcome drink), even in the 3 stars hotels and even if it is not summer. They switch off the air conditioning sistem at 9 o'clock in the morning so that we had to sweat a lot packing our staff before the check-out. It was not a good idea to open the window to get some fresh air because in a short time we found the room full of flies and mosquitoes. There is no network on the window. The bathroom is quite big but the shower cabin too small. They do not accept all the most common credit cards. Anyway I would recommend this hotel.
