Hotel Rural Casa Viscondes Varzea

Very rural but a beautiful spot and having dinner here is a real treat. The breakfast is unbelievable. You will need a car to get here.

Such a great find! This is the family home of what used to be (maybe still is?) a rather wealthy family, and it really shows in the interiors, the grounds, and the overall vibe of the hotel. We stayed in rooms just off the main building - a 2 minute walk away. The room was large, with a queen bed on the ground level and a single bed on the mezzanine floor. The beds were comfortable, the toilet was large with a bath and bidet. The grounds are beautiful - filled with fruit trees, we saw orange, lemon, cherry, pear and a few more I don't recall. The main house itself is just gorgeous! It's filled with what looks like memorabilia collected over decades and generations. The breakfast is generous - nothing too fancy, but it's substantial enough. The dinner was really nice. They offer a buffet dinner for €40. The food isn't spectacular, but it's plenty good enough. For me, the value was equally in the fancy table experience as well as the time and effort saved in driving someplace else for a meal. There is enough parking on site.

We have loved our stay here so much. It is such a beautiful enchanting property. The staff is amazing and we really felt everyone went above and beyond to make truly feel at home. Maria is a ray of sunshine every single day! It is impossible to put into words how beautiful it is here. Walking through the property and the vineyards is magical. If you come you must buy at least 1 of Maria's scarves! They are beautiful and so special.
