As St. Louis natives, my husband and I decided to celebrate his 40th birthday with a staycation at Hotel St. Louis—and we’re so glad we did! The rooftop pool may be small, but it packs a punch with great views and chill vibes. Our room featured a comfy bed, a high-tech smart bidet, and convenient access to Union 30, the in-house restaurant. To our surprise (and delight), I found out a week before check-in that a Caribbean party was taking place on the rooftop the same night of our stay. Talk about perfect timing! We invited over 20 friends to join the celebration and had a fantastic time. The hotel staff was accommodating and made the experience even better. A few small drawbacks: valet parking was $50 overnight, which felt a little steep. Also, the TVs in our room didn’t work, and a few bathroom lights were out—minor issues but noticeable. Overall, we’d definitely return. Hotel St. Louis has great energy, helpful staff, and a beautiful setting for a memorable weekend.
The room was beautiful and roomy. The atmosphere was beautiful. The location was perfect for our visit to Busch Stadium. The greeter in the lobby was so warm and kind that I felt better for having talked with him. So why did I give them 2 stars? Their rooftop pool. We just went for a quick trip at night after a baseball game. It's surrounded by smooth tiles that are incredibly slick when wet. My wife severity hurt her hip even though she was trying hard to keep from slipping. Plus, several tiles were not secured, so when I stepped on them, they caved in. I can't believe they haven't been sued into oblivion from someone having a serious injury on there. And that's on top of the fact that it's a very tiny pool. If you don't plan on visiting the pool, it's a really fabulous hotel. If a pool is important to you, stay elsewhere!
Scam! I will never stay here again! My partner booked this room for his birthday trip and it was horrible. When we got there they said they would not give us the rate we book (because he didn’t have his company card). The room was $170. We looked online and the regular price was $215 so we thought okay that’s not bad. Oh no! They said it would be $450. And then told us we would not be able to find another room because of the Cubs game. She said we could figure it out. I asked some more questions and she said they also had no more rooms and this was our only options. We paid for the room and went upstairs and it was a suit. They charged us for a suite we did not originally book!!! We booked a regular king room. They must have gave away our original room. We asked if they would have a different room the next day and they said no. We also couldn’t have a late check out. Nothing special for his birthday. We also ordered Uber Eats in the morning for his birthday to surprise him to the hotel and it never arrived but my driver said she dropped it off at the front desk. The whole experience was eerie the neighborhood was run down and there was no one walking in the area except when the game was going on. No one could tell us anything. Everyone was very short when speaking and when we asked where we could find places they couldn’t tell us of places. There were items in the room that didn’t work (bidet toilet, broken chair, vinyl recons player didn’t play music, etc). I will say the bathtub was the nicest part about the room. I have been to St. Louis in the last 5 years and have never had this experience!!! To say they are a luxury hotel, it didn’t feel like it. I would have loved to enjoy my partners birthday! Be careful before staying here! Seriously! It feels like a scam!
