Hotel San Francesco

Going to stay at the hotel San Francesco was a very last minute decision and I'm very glad that I went. My room in the annexe was simple but very handy for the pool and the restaurant. Breakfast and dinner were varied and good quality, the pools outside, and inside, were great and very well maintained. All in all it was amazing value for money and I would certainly stay there again.

The room was clean and tidy but a little tired. The shower was very good. Staff superb, very helpful. The food was excellent with local dishes, including rabbit.

I read the reviews before booking as I always do so was really looking forward to it. The journey was horrific,the boat over to the island was tossed about everywhere and so many people were being sick.Arrived at the hotel where the reception staff were brilliant and shown to our room which was small but very clean so no complaints there.The pool was lovely but hardly anyone used it as some days just myself and my wife were the only ones there all day.I am not a fussy eater as my wife says I would eat anything but to be honest the food was awful but the service was excellent.Whilst we were there it seems to be a place for much older people.We asked for a table outside as there is a lovely seating area but was told no in no uncertain terms.My wife asked could we reserve a table and was told no we were to eat inside.They bring your menu at breakfast for you to choose your evening meal so my wife said we didn't want to eat there as we have paid a lot of money for this holiday and can't understand why other people seemed to sit outside on the same table every night.He immediately said we could have a table outside so why all the hassle?The hotel seems to bend over backwards if you are Italian but that wasn't a problem as we just tried to make the best of it.They have a lovely little bar which unfortunately there was rarely anybody there to serve you as the staff have to double up and help in the restaurant.All in all I wouldn't return there but everyone is different as some of the lovely reviews show.
