I stayed here on a stormy night in November of 2023. This is a vintage style hotel that was most accommodating. Shortly after my arrival I was off to Teatro Caio Melisso to see a concert when the wonderful host suggest I take one of their spare unbrellas. I was so thankful as I decided to walk to the venue and was caught in a thunderstorm with hail. After the show I was happy to retire for the evening with a nice shower and comfortable bed. The room was quiet and I slept well. I think I was at the end of the hall on the third floor. In the morning, the breakfast was amazing and everything felt first class all the way. I'll never forget the kindness of loaning me the umbrella. Thank you for a memorable stay. Sorry my review is so late in posting.

This is a fading beauty. We stayed there four nights in May and I’ll start with the positives: The lobby, public area, the outdoor areas are beautiful. Our room was spacious and had all the basics necessary. The breakfast was plentiful and the lady serving us was very accommodating, and the only person who smiled and offered help. Now to the disappointing areas: Our night tables looked like they’ve been purchased in a Chinese flea market (apologies to China), and the rest of the furniture was a mix of different mismatching styles. The edge of the bathtub was very high and there was no mat on the floor that was very slippery. Elderly people like us can slip and fall. There were no rugs in the room despite the fact that most of the pictures show rugs in the room. The various people who manned the front desk all seemed to be busy looking at their phones and we always felt like we’re disturbing them. There was never a smile or offer of help. When my husband inquired about borrowing an umbrella, there was an immediate sharp “no” by one of the staff, but then another one said that we can borrow one. They sat next to each other… We’ve stayed in two other accommodations since leaving San Luca and the difference in the hospitality is remarkable.

Overall our stay wasn’t pleasant at this hotel. The rooms were old and the tiles on the floor looked dirty and scratched. The manager responded that I don’t know what the difference is between antique. Well do stickers on the tiles make them antique or maybe they just sloppy cleaners? The main reason we left was because this place likes to play with the AC. They turn it on and off when they feel like it from their computer. After walking around hot and humid Spoleto we came back to a sauna. We had to start the AC, and by the time it cooled down I was animal already because I had showered for dinner and I was dripping wet. Next day I wake up because it’s so hot in the room. I call the front desk and they tell me they are cleaning the rooms and turn the AC off when they do this. Obviously they never heard of a thermostat, or they just think I’m a stupid American. After they saw I was aggravated the man upfront said our AC would no longer be blocked any more and work the whole day. Americans don’t come on vacation to a 4 star hotel and have to sweat like a pig while they are getting ready. They might be use to it because they live here, but that doesn’t mean the guests have to suffer. Overall I spent 450 euros for a hotel that shouldn’t even have one star. Definitely don’t recommend. The manager said they don’t play with the AC which is lie. Typical Italian. Violent words!! They just don’t like when people call them out and leave a negative review. Your hotel should be condemned. If sweating like a pig constitutes violent words than maybe you should go hide under a table. You specifically said you turn off the AC when you clean the rooms how come you didn’t answer this? Your a thin skinned person and should accept your guest feedback so you can fix the hotel not make fun of their reviews. Typical stuck up northern Italians. As far as you not recommending me to stay at Your garbage hotel no problem because we stay at real 4 and 5 star hotels not hotels that look like they need to be condemned. Hope you have a wonderful day you and your miserable wife Federica
