Hotel Santiago Plaza Affiliated by Meliá

In the heart of Santiago de Compostela, Hotel Santiago Plaza delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Meliá property, excellent service, spacious rooms, and an overall experience that goes above and beyond. We booked a room for ourselves and our child, and it was massive with plenty of space to relax after exploring the city. The staff were incredibly helpful, even going as far as mapping out lunch and dinner spots for us with their personal recommendations, and every single one was a hit. If you’re visiting Santiago de Compostela and want comfort, great hospitality, and a central location, this hotel is an easy choice. Highly recommend! Also try their restaurant which offers in-room service!

Great location, close to shops and just a 15min walk from the centre. Bus and train station is a 10 min walk from the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff was lovely and provided great costumer service. Breakfast was delicious! Thank you for a great stay ☺️

The hotel itself has an old-fashioned charm and clearly aims to present a sense of classic elegance. However, the staff’s attitude doesn’t match the ambiance. Service often felt dismissive, as though they believed they were only there to serve royalty. A particular example was Marcos, a waiter who seemed more interested in doubting whether guests had paid than offering assistance — he couldn’t find my name on the list and made no effort to handle the situation with courtesy. Unfortunately, the reception staff had a similarly cold and unwelcoming approach. While the hotel wants to resemble a traditional, elegant establishment, the behavior of the personnel feels more suited to a basic hostel. The mismatch between the decor and the service experience was very disappointing.
