Hotel SB Plaza Europa

Very nice hotel. Slightly off the city centre, but still well communicated via metro or trains. Amazing and helpful staff. Nice views from the windows and from the rooftop swimming pool ❤️. Clean and spacious rooms, also very tasty breakfasts and restaurant dishes for later. Had a great stay in Barcelona. Highly recommend.

This hotel may look like a four-star property from the outside and in the lobby, but once you enter the room, it’s hard to justify that rating. The shower in our room, for example, was extremely weak and barely functional – something that simply shouldn’t happen in a hotel of this category. Another serious issue was breakfast. We stayed for five nights and had exactly the same basic breakfast every single morning. There was no variety, very limited options, and by the fifth day, I honestly couldn’t bring myself to eat there again. It was disappointing, especially considering the cost and supposed four-star status. We also had several problems with the reception. On two or three occasions when we raised concerns, the staff were far from helpful – and when it came to resolving the issue with the card payment, things escalated unnecessarily. I had clearly stated I would pay in cash, yet they charged my card on the first day without my consent. They claimed it was just a guarantee, but the money was only returned five or six days later – money I had planned to use during the trip. Their tone during the discussion was rude and unprofessional, which made the experience even more frustrating. The only real positive was the location – the hotel is relatively close to the city center, which was convenient. Overall, based on this experience, I would not return to this hotel.

I didn't have a terrible experience but for a 4star hotel I expected better. The reception staff were friendly. However, the rooms are not sound proof as stated so could always hear when the other guests entered/left their rooms. There was also a very unpleasant smell in the room in the evening - I think there might have been something wrong with the pipe work? The gym was basic with a few machines - could be improved with some freeweights. The sauna is nice but the steam room was not hot enough. Also, I'm pretty sure my booking included breakfast but was told in the end it wasn't. The location is not bad as some other reviews stated. The are buses and the metro station is just across the road about a 3min walk away and makes it very easy to get into the centre.
