Hotel Schillingshof

I can only rate the restaurant. I ate dinner here but did not take a room. All the food I tried was excellently prepared and seasoned. The staff were all wonderfully friendly and attentive. I highly recommend. Worth the price.

Hotel Schillingshof, Bad Kohlgrub, Bavaria As part of our stay in Bavaria, we were put up at this property, which is rated 4 star (to me more like 3-3.5) located pretty much country side! The accommodation & check in was reasonably fast & efficient! Floors looked dated, pretty much 1960th style, but were generally clean! The rooms were somewhat comfy, the chairs heavy & old style, classical set up, again very 60th style! The Bed however was something else, ok not too bad to have a hard mattress, but the pillows reminded me on potential prison bed ware, the covering not much better, and only 2 pillows provided for a two bedder! The Bathroom is ok, fairly modern , good shower etc. the Toilet Bowl situated such that vertically challenged will be ok, for large & tall people, good luck! Balcony was great, (unfortunately I got the back door view) but overall nice, especially now in spring! If you drive by car, the place is about 15 minutes away from Murnau, (amazing city for visitors with market shops etc) F&B: Tried to get lunch at 11.30 (we had to be somewhere at 1pm) fat chance, only open from 12 noon, zero flexibility! Starve if you must, nothing else available! Breakfast: Good sized buffet, all basic foods available, as such nothing much to comment on, all western taste buds should be very fine! Those with Asian needs, bring your own cup noodles! 😂😂😂, Service, oh my god, two pint sized Asian ladies, with hardly a smile run this place like empresses, or dragon dowager! Clearing tables slow, and if you cannot find a seat, tough luck! Over all food decent, service has work to do! Parking both covered (at a cost) or under the stars available Wifi, very Wonky, hotel net worked for a day, then had to get it changed to events, but still it was an on and off situation, lucky we had roaming available! I did not want to give 2 stars for such a beautiful property but the attitude and hospitality of the hotel isn't that great. The rooms are reall well managed. The ambience is beautiful especially the backdoor view from the mountains. Precious sceneries. However, everything stands spoilt because of the staff behaviour. I don't know why the restaurant staff is so arrogant. Never seen such a bad behaviour of the restaurant staff anywhere. They need soft skills training. The food spread was really good and I liked one humble man who was making grill stuf. If you ask me to come back to this property I won't only because of the poor hospitality.
