By far my favorite hotel in NYC. The location cannot be beat - it is so close to everything but it's not near any of the tourists area, the neighborhood is safe and clean and there are great restaurants, bars and shopping nearby. The guestrooms have this apartment like feel so I actually feel like I'm at a friend's place and not in a hotel! The service is great, everyone remembers me every time I walk through the door and the friendliness is genuine. I love the new lobby bar (great old fashioned) and Scarpetta cannot be beat for an elevated Italian meal. Now that they are part of Hyatt I'm extra excited to earn my World of Hyatt Points! Oh, and you have to try the burger from room service - damn it is so much better than what you would ever expect.
I recently stayed at this hotel and wanted to share my experience to help others considering a visit. Overall, it was a decent stay with some great features, but a few issues kept it from being perfect. What Stood Out Positively: The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows were soft yet supportive, making it easy to relax. The shower was a highlight, with strong water pressure that made for a refreshing experience. I also appreciated the number of outlets in the room, which made charging devices convenient. The lobby had a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. What Could Be Improved: Unfortunately, there were some notable downsides. The biggest issue was the noise—police sirens and car horns went on all night, making it tough to sleep despite the comfy bed. At the bar, I was disappointed that the bartender didn’t know how to make a Long Island Iced Tea properly, which was surprising for a hotel of this caliber. Unlike other Hyatt properties I’ve visited, there were no complimentary water bottles in the room. Instead, the in-room snacks and drinks were shockingly overpriced—a bottle of water was $12, which felt excessive. Additionally, there was no hand soap provided in the room, which was inconvenient and unexpected. I also noticed a used bottle of “complimentary” lotion in the restroom, which was off-putting and raised concerns about cleanliness. Final Thoughts: This hotel has a lot going for it with its comfortable rooms and pleasant lobby, but the noise, bar experience, lack of complimentary water, overpriced minibar, missing hand soap, and used lotion bottle were real letdowns. If you’re considering staying here, I’d recommend asking for a room on a higher floor to avoid street noise, skipping the in-room snacks, and double-checking the room’s amenities upon arrival. Hopefully, the hotel can address these issues to improve the experience for future guests.
Luxury hotel experience with updated modern equipment. This hotel felt like a very thoroughly modern update of a grand hotel of the past. Amenities such as the gym and the lobby areas were pleasant. The rooms were nice in presentation and had all the typical accoutrements. Staff here are very courteous and attentive. Location is convenient in Manhattan.
