Mixed experience. The elevators are in terrible condition — on the 9th floor, the "down" button doesn’t work, and elevator car #3 display always appears to be stuck. The toilet paper is very poor quality: rough, hard to tear, and the dispenser is the kind you find in public restrooms — frustrating to use, as the paper constantly falls out. The shower is also disappointing: hot water is weak, so you either take a cold shower or deal with very low water pressure. There’s no soap holder or shelf to place your soap during the shower, which is very inconvenient. Another downside: guests are required to wear a wristband inside the hotel. This might make sense at a vacation resort, but it feels out of place for business travelers in the city. On the positive side, breakfast is excellent — far above average for hotels in the same category.
I can get over the first room with a bug, alive, the size of my thumb. The window was open and this is a tropical land. I can also get over the noisy toilet extractor and shower, that made our (second) room rumble like thunder, and I’m ok with the loud air conditioning. At the end, it’s a bit old fashioned and the breakfast table was fair, and the distance to the beach was a privilege (about a block away). However, we were here for a wedding. My husband went to the common laundry room to iron his white shirt and it got stained from a black liquid pouring from the iron. Accidents happen. We asked the hotel for a second iron and instead they send the laundry person to pick the clothes and iron them herself. Fine. And then they charged us for it. Even though we had asked for the human service the night before and they told us it was not possible; even though it was their iron that had and issue (there is only one iron for all guests in a common room). And the manager had the audacity to tell us that using the equipment they provide, without other apparent options, was our full responsibility. He was rude and defensive, and at no point tried to find some middle ground. To be honest, that little discussion about an inane thing that could have been friendly and easily used to show a modicum of interest in our comfort made the bug, and the air conditioning, and the loud mini fridge, and the 45min a friend was trapped in the elevator, and the lack of drinkable water available, and the hair in the toilet/shower, it made it all a little too hard to get over with. To be fair, we also run into friendly staff at the reception and restaurant, and someone pass by to ask us kindly to close all windows the night we had a storm. We had read that the hotel’s glory had passed, and thought it to be wrong with the fancy lobby we first walked into. But beyond the lobby, it is clear there are some important administrative issues to solve. Perhaps an extra block to the beach is not a bad idea, for a better sleeping experience.
Extremely disappointing experience so far! Trust me this hotel Is completely overrated. It doesn’t deserve 4 start. We arrived yesterday at the hotel and the receptionist was very dismissive and incredibly arrogant. I booked two rooms. Surely any decent hotel would keep the booking close to each other or at least not so far. However, this hotel allocated us 8 floors apart! They said that they could not accommodate our request of staying a bit closer because they are fully booked. I cannot believe on that as the hotel is really big! From the pictures I could not see how big and tall this hotel is by the way. They have about 20 floors and two towers by the way. So, if you like hotels that can give you a bespoke service there is no way you can get this here. The service here is pretty bad. For example when we arrived we had really heavy bags. The staff did not offer any help with the bags and we had to carry them on our own. I am with my son my sister and her children! Be aware that there are balconies without net protection which could be extremely dangerous for young children. The lift and halls are in need of modernisation. The lift’s sensors don’t actually detect people properly and the door nearly caught my son! The rooms are really basic . The pool is small for the size of the hotel and the inside pool stinks! I would not recommend this hotel.
