Hotel Signum

We were so impressed by Signum on our most recent trip to Salina. Whilst we weren’t staying at the Hotel, we had the opportunity to visit the bar/restaurant a handful of times. We found the staff to be incredibly warm and generous, making us feel right at home. We’d also like to extend a special thank you to Josephina and Raffael for their kindness, for taking the time to share stories about the wines and the history of the islands, and for being so thoughtful and welcoming — especially with our little ones. The food was delicious, and locally sourced which is a huge plus! We can’t wait to come back and actually stay at the hotel next time. Grazie!

Food was good. However, I asked the server if we can get two glasses of wine. He did not ask me what kind of wine I wanted and said he will be right back. At the end of the night my bill came and turns out he charged me €98 per glass of wine. We had a total of 2 glasses. My meal alone was €500. The server took advantage of us and that's not right. I will not recommend this restaurant strictly because the server.

Very negative experience in the bistrot section of the restaurant. The restaurant is split in two sections. Both sections are managed by Michelin star rated Chef. We ordered two glasses of wine, and appetizer, and two meals. The appetizer arrived 30 minutes later and the l bread and wine was not delivered until after. In fact, we had to inquire about the wine and waited for another 10 minutes. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the problems. We waited for another 90 minutes until we had to go and ask about the meal. During the wait time, the waiter never stop by to talk to us. The waiter apologized explaining that they are very busy tonight. This was Tuesday night and the restaurant was 50% empty. The waiter apologize multiple times, but there was no good explanation and every other table was also waiting for the meal for the extended period of time. Eventually, the meal arrived. It tasted good and it was consistent with the bistro style. The prices, however, were very high (not bistrot prices): The average appetizer was €25-€30 and an average main corse was about €38. An average bottle of wine was above €80 including local wines. We paid €148 for one appetizer. Two main courses and 2 glasses of local wine. At this price levels, the service offered was completely unacceptable, shameful, and undeserving. There was absolutely no reason why the bistro section of the restaurant was let down entirely. I can only imagine how people felt if they chose this restaurant for a special occasion. At the table next to us people got tired of waiting and left without their meal. They were clearly very disappointed as well. If you are considering this restaurant for your memorable meal, please look somewhere else. If you are considering to go for the Michelin star section of this restaurant, I would not go there either unless you like this type of service.
