Hotel Sofia Palace

A very good find. It has Apartments of various sizes. Check-in and check-out was smooth. The apartment had all the extras we usually ask for like additional pillows and blankets. It had a small pantry, kettle, electric cooker, refrigerator (fully stocked with chocolates, alcohol, snacks), a few pots and pans, large and comfortable sofa and living room space, a spacious bathroom and bedroom. Bathtub had firm handhold bars - a big plus if you are an older person. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent - large variety of breads, pancakes and pastries. The spinach pastries were the best we have had. The staff all smile and say hello whenever we greeted them. They have a button in the lobby which calls Taxis and tells the wait time - ours came within a few minutes. The central location of the property meant that we could walk to most places like malls and sightseeing, public transport etc. It had a shortcoming: a leak from the bathtub, from time to time, which made the bathroom slippery but they had put in a solution for it. Overall highly recommended and I would stay there again.

Room is specious but the carpet in the room needs to be changed. Old and had a big red stain on it, hopefully rust. People are nice and helpful. Breakfast is lacking flavor for 4 star quality. In fact, I think this hotel deserves 3 star not 4. (Also the escape plan in the room was showing that we were in another room)

The hotel is a bit outdated, but it is clean and it is very well situated; within walking distance to the city centre. The bed is comfortable and the selection and quality of breakfast is good. Sauna and gym were under renovation when we were there. Parking space needs to be reserved in advance and costs 28 BGN/day.
