We paid a fair price, I’d say even average compared to others in the area. We were guided by the photos, but when we arrived, we found the facilities somewhat deteriorated. Our shower was clean, of course, but had some moldy parts and worn-out silicone that looked blackened. The pool was disappointing—I got in, but I could see very dirty areas, maybe just stained over time rather than actually dirty, but that’s how it looked. Because of that, I got out and didn’t use it again. Now, regarding the staff, I have no complaints. They were truly kind and incredibly helpful. If they paid more attention to these maintenance details while keeping the same staff, everything would be perfect. Also, be aware that on the street near the hotel, you’ll find people selling tours. We thought we had gotten a great deal because the private van driver charged us 1,000 THB for the whole day. However, when we arrived at the floating market, the minimum price for a one-hour boat ride was 1,500 THB per person, with other options costing 2,000 and 4,000 THB. The van driver took us directly to a specific vendor, and when we tried to look for better prices with the rowboat operators, he told us it wasn’t possible—we could only book with his contact. It’s worth noting that private boats can cost as little as 500 THB per person. Additionally, the boat driver only stops at his preferred shops, and when we asked to continue the tour, he just kept pushing us to look around and buy something. It got frustrating because we were there for the experience, not to overpay for souvenirs. The insistence made the tour less enjoyable. Just something extra to keep in mind if you’re planning to visit.
We stayed 4 nights in Hotel Solo. Miss A at the reception was very hospitable, speaks and understands english well and fulfilled all our wishes. Without her the experience wouldn't have been the same. We got a room on a higher floor with city view and even a small balcony. Windows can be opened. Daily water (and room service if you wish). The water pressure in the 2m2 shower cabin was massive! We found toiletries, a small fridge, safe, hangers, bathrobes, tissues, TV in our relatively large room where there was enough space to have our luggage re-sorted. The beds were on the softer side but with white, crisp sheets and two pillows each and the rooms were very well sweeped and clean. If you are looking for a refreshing swim the pool area has 8-10 sunbeds. There is also a bar on the roof but it was not open during our stay. Instead you can use the snack / bar area on the ground floor. The area is relatively quiet but there is a bit of construction happening on the other side of the street. Hotel Solo offers free shuttle to Sukhumvit road between 10:00 and 19:00 - so you save some time. Bts is 2 mins walk once you reached the main road. Fortunately they were so kind to store one of our bags during our stay in Thailand which was very kind. Room for improvement: - Wifi was not really reliable (neither was my "true" sim card. - I missed some hooks on the wall (a general issue in many hotels). I would certainly recommend Hoel Solo if you are looking for a more quiet location and spacious, clean rooms. Thanks again to Miss A for being so cooperative and friendly.
This is not a 4 star hotel. In a crap location, wallpaper peeling in hallways and rooms. Stains on couch. Toilet paper dispenser just fell off the wall. Window handle was also broken. Bed was too short for me. Place just had no polish we were so disappointed. They don’t refund but we still chose to leave and forfeit our money. Moved to a different hotel nearby rather than stay there
