Hotel Sonnalp

Our good friends have been going to this hotel in Obereggen for a decade and have been raving about the location, rooms, staff and most of all the Chef and his cuisine. We finally had an opportunity to stay nearly a week here this winter and have to say they were spot on on almost everything. The renovated rooms were very comfortable and the lobby plush and welcoming. The heated outdoor pool was my favourite in the spa. Every staff member from the family themselves to their hired help was so friendly, helpful and kind - genuine hospitality. The dinners were amazing - always something different and quite creative every evening, and we have eaten our way through many restaurants in the world so our compliments were sincere. It’s skis aux pieds and the sledging run is just next to the hotel. If you needed to visit other villages in the valley (we made a few outings) the bus stop was not far away. You can hire skis from a shop near the gondola station and they can pick up from the hotel at the end of your stay. The station itself felt safe though I have to say that there wasn’t much to do or see once you are out of your accommodation.

Have you seen the movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel"? There's a scene where the hotel manager explains to his apprentice that he has to see the customers needs before he or she does. We'll that's the kind of service you can expect here. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb and the staff super friendly. The location is a dream.

we stayed 4 nights at Sonnalp with what started as a two night stay. However, the absolutely fantastic service, the amazing food and the great location blew us away and the trip kept on getting extended. The highlights: - The Sonnalp team is personally involved in the comfort of every guest. We checked in late and even though the kitchen had closed, they had dinner ready for us - The daily chef's dinner is a gourmet treat. In US, the restaurant would probably qualify for a michelin star. - the location is right next to the cable car station allowing us to start our hikes in no time. Certainly a wonderful choice for anyone looking to escape the heat and enjoy the beauty of the Oberregen area.
