Hotel & Spa La Belle Juliette

Loved this hotel, but the hallways are extremely dark, so impractical to navigate. Ironically you don’t even appreciate the dark blue walls with gold stars aesthetic because there isn’t even enough light to reflect them. The addition of twinkly lights would be perfect. I stayed in the largest room in the hotel, but there was no full length mirror except a very narrow one hiding in the wardrobe, which seems like a strange oversight given the available wall space. Rooms are very quiet and comfy for excellent sleep - the most important part of which was the solid AC, which they have. There was also no kettle for hot tea, but after a few days without tea it occurred to me to ask the front desk for one and they had one, albeit of plastic. But then I only had espresso demitasse cups to drink it out of so I kept making mini teas. I would have paid an extra $30 a night for mugs, a kettle, and a milk frother. Very appreciative of the flowers in my room which were thoroughly enjoyed my entire week here and the staff were all very kind and helpful. My little pup also had everything she needed, and the breakfast buffet was great. I really tend to want my coffee either well before or well after my breakfast so the limited in-room beverage bar and the dark hallways were the only deficiencies. Oh and the woman who does massages at the spa is excellent and very caring. Would stay again.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and the location was good. There are restaurants and shopping just a few blocks away. It felt like a very safe area and was quiet at night. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. One negative: In our room, the toilet was in a separate space from the rest of the bathroom. The space that the toilet is in is extremely small, like a very small closet. It feels like an airplane toilet except there is no sink. I was really bothered by the lack of a sink for handwashing in the same space as the toilet (it is in the space with the shower).

Our rooms were unacceptably cramped and with no areas to put all our clothes. A chair blocked the door to the tiny bathroom; we could not use the Nespresso coffee maker in the closet because the shelf above it blocked it from opening; and the worst aspect was that the toilet was in a separate room across the room from the bathroom, in a room so small that we couldn't fit into it without folding our legs up. The liquid soap dispenser on the sink was empty, there was no tissue box, and we had no bathmat outside the shower. The elevator and halls were cramped and dark. So, although we had booked four nights, we left after one night and transferred to a hotel that was more suitable, even though we had to pay for one night we missed. We were also shocked that the concierge had nothing to recommend when we asked him where we could eat after traveling all day. He just looked at us blankly and asked a colleague - who also had no ideas.
