This hotel is a castle and combines a history with modern bathrooms and wellness area (sauna, pool, fitness). The nature around the is amazing. Fields, birds, etc. One of those places where people play cards outside. Somehow, like another century. However, it is clean, has a nice scent and everything that needs to be new and modern is new and modern. I enjoy this because I slept in other historical buildings that seemed to have this old-style that missed modern elements. The people here are helpful and funny. I enjoyed talking to them and will miss this friendly atmosphere. I will come back again.

A beautiful old place tucked away in the countryside. The room was very comfortable and very clean. The restaurant provides excellent food in the morning and evening. The staff speak excellent English which far surpassed my basic German language skills. Not an expensive place to stay and rich in history and culture.

Unfortunately, it's true - before Corona, the house was better managed and the food in the restaurant was more exciting. And yet we gave it 4* because improvements can be seen. In particular, the staff is totally helpful if you point out defects in a friendly manner. The hotel has been renovated with a great deal of skill into an approx. 1000-year-old castle. Almost all rooms differ in size and layout. Our (themed) room was perfect (except for a creaking bed), large, attractively and functionally furnished and super clean. Everything as shown and described on the web site. It was cleaned daily. If you do without it on a day, there was a small thank you (sweets and fruit). The beds had a firm, high mattress (good for older people when getting up ;) I felt comfortable on the firm mattress, my partner found it too hard. Everything worked in the bathroom, large floor-level shower with additional rain shower head, double vanity, toilet in a separate room. We drew attention to dusty fans. Was vacuumed the same day. Additional duvets were given to us immediately upon request. WiFi was fast enough for our needs (video streaming). It failed one day, we let you know, and it happened again in the evening. The castle is located in the middle of nowhere in Saxony-Anhalt between small villages, very rural, very quiet, not far from the Harz mountains (30 minutes by car). Without a car you are a bit far from the beaten track. We went for walks and cycled to the Huy - very relaxing for us. And then, of course, wellness: sauna (Finnish and organic) with an adjoining part of the garden and its own small (indoor) swimming pool. In the neighboring area there is an approx. 20 m long (indoor) pool in the castle grounds with adventure showers (tropical, rain, mist...), counter-current system, whirlpool, loungers on a gallery above the pool - the crowning glory of the house. Bathrobes, slippers and large towels are available in the room. We had a couples bath (chocolate+sparkling wine+chocolate fondue) very nicely prepared, very relaxing and a Scen Tao massage from a physiotherapist-trained masseuse, professionally performed and anti-stress. Breakfast in the restaurant is a bit awkwardly organized, but extensive and tastes quite good. At 4*, however, we got more in the hot area (the kitchen often prepared it directly for the guest, such as fried eggs on bacon, or similar). The restaurant area obviously suffers from a lack of staff and a good cook who stands out from the normal level. As I said, the staff tries very hard here, but as soon as it's rush hour, things go haywire: long queues of guests already at the entrance, tables are incompletely set, crumbs are not properly cleaned, some stains from the previous guest on the tablecloths, refills buffet stalls, etc. Buffet dinner is good but just ordinary (nothing special and main courses sit in tubs for a long time, which doesn't do them any good). Better not eat half board but a'la carte. The menu is very clear, but the dishes are individually prepared and served fresh to the table. Overall, the hotel still needs to work on the price-performance ratio in order to reach the high pre-corona level (we had stayed here years ago), but improvement was clearly visible during our stay (spiders, dirty rooms, moldy Joints, incompetent staff, etc. (as in some comments before us, we have not experienced). The hotel's booking mask can only be standard. We called the hotel and changed our booking to a budget arrangement.
