Just returned from a week at the Stellina Village (5th-12th July 2025), we stayed in a 2 bedroom junior suite and had a really enjoyable stay. Firstly the people, I now understand what people mean about greek hospitality, we felt welcome everywhere we went, including all the hotel staff we met. Secondly the location, the hotel is well placed, you can walk into Chania along the coast (there's a path behind the beach) in 30 mins, or the bus in 5 mins, which goes every 20 mins until 11pm. The beaches near the hotel are nice, soft sand, warm sea, some beach cafes, sunbeds, etc. They're within 2 min to 15 min walk, the closest one is actually pretty good, for me there wasn't much to be gained by making the 15 min walk. I think the more famous beaches of Crete are much nicer though. Chania really comes alive when it gets dark, what a wonderful place! I can't really explain but you have to go and get dinner and explore (inc. the back streets/alleyways), we did this 3 nights. We also hired a boat (no license needed) on our last day, which was so worth it, we found some incredible secluded coves for swimming/snorkeling, this was a massive highlight of the trip. Finally the hotel, overall a wonderful experience that exceeded my expectations. Massive breakfast buffet selection, tables right by the pool. There are 3 pools, the middle one (Village) is busiest/noisiest, has most kids and music from the bar, the other two are quieter, the Royal pool (probably the nicest pool) mostly adults, but we spent quite a lot of time at the Suites pool as well. You do have to play the sunbed game if you want 4 next to each other (towels out at 7am for the prime locations), although there were always some free sunbeds throughout the day, just not many at the middle pool. Onsite mini market was good, we walked to a local supermarket thinking it would be cheaper and the prices were the same. Rooms were excellent, spotless, cleaned daily, super comfortable king beds, blackout blinds, aircon in each room (inc. lounge/kitchen), small kitchen with everything you need, decent sized fridge, espresso machine, balcony and separate terrace with outdoor dining table + umbrella, modern luxury bathroom, great shower. A few things were showing their age, in our apartment one aircon machine, the fridge and some fixtures were obviously older but they have clearly maintained the rooms very well, and without looking closely they appear very up-to-date. The food at the Helios restaurant was very nice, reasonably priced and generous portions (as we found everywhere in Crete!) Really good fresh coffee at pool bar also, plus many little touches like chilled beer glasses. In fact there were so many little touches throughout the hotel, they definitely know how to run this sort of hotel very well, and if anything is missing the staff were great. I've actually struggled to find many negatives but some minor things I noticed the games room could do with a new pool table, no water offered with massage, no cheese grater in kitchen and maybe have fresh coffee instead of machine at buffet breakfast. But overall we had a wonderful time at Stellina and I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.
Beautiful hotel, close to some really great beaches. Getting into the city was very easy, whether by bus or going for a walk.
Beautiful hotell, good service, not to close to city, but not to far away either. 40-50 minute walk to chania, walk on beach all the way and you come directly to Old Town of Chania.
