Hotel Ta' Cenc & Spa

I commend all the staff for their exceptional service. However certain aspects of the hotel did not meet the standards of a five star hotel. Selection of wine AT THE BAR is very poor. Furniture and decor in room needs an uplift as very tired. Not having a minibar in rooms being a five star hotel is not done.

I really enjoyed the location – it's a beautiful and peaceful place – and the staff were extremely friendly and kind throughout my stay. However, there were too many aspects that did not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel, especially considering the price paid. Maintenance was clearly lacking: for instance, several pathway lights were out, making it almost completely dark when walking back to the bungalow at night. The gym was outdated, with old equipment that didn’t function properly, and both the sauna and steam room could really use a renovation. Breakfast was good but not outstanding, and not quite what you’d expect from a hotel in this category. On the positive side, the spa pool was very nice and relaxing. Overall, I liked the place and truly believe it has great potential. If properly maintained, it could be absolutely perfect. As it stands, the value for money is just not there – in a different hotel it might be acceptable, but guests who choose a 5-star experience are paying for something close to perfection. I sincerely hope to return one day and find a much-improved service.

I stayed at this hotel expecting a 5-star experience, but what I got was far from it. The room was not particularly clean, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this level. The minibar in our Junior Suite was completely empty, even though they took my credit card as a guarantee for any consumption. It’s hard to understand the logic behind that. Service was a disaster: the bar and pool areas were practically unattended. Worst of all, at the pool bar, I was refused a drink simply because I was wearing a bathrobe instead of regular clothes. When I politely asked for an explanation, the bar staff member didn’t even stop to talk to me — she just walked past and, without looking at me, said I had to have casual clothes. The attitude was rude and unprofessional. At check-in, I was handed a form and told to fill in my own details — again, not something I would ever expect from a supposedly high-end hotel. Overall, this place lacks the service, attention to detail, and professionalism you'd expect from a true 5-star hotel. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend it.
