Hotel Takachiho

Nice traditional and clean hotel. The family slept on tatami for the first time and it was comfortable. The rooms are clean and the service is good. The hotel provides yukata for all ages too. The breakfast and dinner was great. Authentic Japanese food at affordable prices. There are public baths for the hotel guests as well.

Spacious tatami style hotel with in-house onsen (man-made onsen water mix with mineral) quite and super cosy at night. There is shochu tasting (free-flow) at the lobby for the guest. Plus there rent out seating cushion for free for those that is visiting the kagura dance.

Wow! This hotel! First of all, my husband and I were there as a couple, but this hotel is clearly kid friendly. There was a very nice indoor play area for children with lots of books for them lining the walls. I was very impressed with that as I haven't seen that at other hotels in Japan. The room was lovely, the view was beautiful, and the surroundings were quiet. It was an easy walk to some of the best meals we've ever had, and it was a quick walk to the temple for the nightly show exemplifying one of the oldest forms of dance in all of Japan. We booked a western style bedroom but they also have tatami mat rooms with futons if you prefer that. The bathrooms are western style which we appreciated. The service was wonderful, and they had a few people at the front desk who spoke English so we were able to get some really good restaurant recommendations.
