Nice modern hotel close to beautiful beaches. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Dinner was poor, and the waiting staff were extremely slow. I would recommend eating out for dinner. Overall, it was a lovely hotel.

Lances Tarifa does not live up to its 4.4-star rating Let’s start with the positives. I think this was the best hotel we could find in Tarifa, and for that we are thankful. The included breakfast buffet offers plenty of options and, for a buffet, it is good. The garden to the pool is beautifully laid out with lots of flowers and trees, and it is well-planned for the hard wind that blew while we were there. The pool area has many sunbathing opportunities, and for those who prefer shade, there are enough options too. Unfortunately, there was cat poop in the garden, which made us move from sunbed to sunbed due to the smell. The customer service lacked for a hotel with a 4.4-star rating. Staff do not speak a word of English and continue speaking Spanish even when it’s clear you don’t understand. They also do not greet guests when entering or leaving the hotel. The restaurant offers a wide menu, the same for lunch and dinner, but with enough choice. The service is inconsistent — orders are forgotten, brought wrong, or checked again after 20 minutes. Staff are friendly, but their English and skill level could be improved. Special mention to waitress Alejandra, who is skilled and speaks good English. The hotel should realise how important her skills are for both the hotel and the guests. The rooms are simple, with beds that are quite hard. The bathroom is very small compared to the size of the room. The shower has a window with only a sheer curtain, which may not give enough privacy. Towels can only be hung over the toilet, which is not very nice. The pool opens at 9, but when we were there around 11 there was no pool boy to hand out towels. It is unfortunate, because we wanted to be happy with the service and the hotel. But when you price yourself with a 4.4 rating, you should live up to that.

Lovely hotel, the rooms are comfortable and modern, but the main reason we chose this hotel was for the rooftop pool but it’s closed. Even though the hotel is full they said it’s only open Friday & Saturday for a few hours in the evening. Meanwhile they advertise photos on social media and their website of the pool which is a major selling point. They would not even allow us to go to the rooftop to watch the sunset.
