Lovely hotel, very historic and appointed as such. Out of the town of Bari which meant E15-E20 taxis into the city centre. The menu was not extensive and there were no self service facilities (kettle/tea coffee) it was too cold for swimming when we stayed, however no information was offered about the pool and/or spa. Lovely grounds, lovely large room.
How can this place can get 4 stars??? The staff is unfriendly and don’t care about customers!! (Isn’t only our felling because we talk with other customers who where also disappointed by the hotel). The breakfast is a joke! The older men who take care of the breakfast, he’s the only good point in this hotel!! Good looking and professional! There’s no bar service during day time! The bathroom our maybe 20years old. We had our room at the first floor and each time we open the door it was smelling cold cigarettes smell… the rooms our very dusty!!
We spent 3 nights at the hotel. The cleanliness of the room left something to be desired (a little mold, dust, etc.), but this was not the main problem, but the fact that the neighboring room is separated by a thin door. (The two rooms can be opened together if necessary). We managed to get to know all the sounds related to the biological needs of the person living in the neighboring room thoroughly, instead of sleeping. (Drowning cough at 2 am, nose blowing, intestinal gas, everything that goes with it.) Fortunately, this ended quickly, because the neighbor's alarm clock sounded at 6 am, which repeated every 9 minutes. The complete lack of soundproofing from a hotel that claims to be a four-star is a shame. At night, when I wanted to ask for help at the reception (another room, for example?) unfortunately no one was there. I rang the bell, knocked, but I think the concierge was able to sleep well. Breakfast has to be ordered via WhatsApp, which is good for WhatsApp users (i don't know what if I don't use it), but neither morning did we get what we ordered (two espressos instead of a macchiato, we got everything except the bread, etc.), so I don't really understand why they don't use a checkered paper instead. Minor but annoying topic. The only vegetables you could ask for were tomatoes, which were dirty, it's worth wiping them off before eating. The environment is disappointing because of the garbage everywhere. It's shocking how unscrupulous the attitude towards garbage disposal is, compared to the beautiful architectural monuments and coastline that southern Italy has. I'm giving it 1 star because compared to the communicated image (e.g. the website), the whole thing was disappointing.
