Hotel is perfectly placed for Chinatown. Not far from union square. From the start we were made very welcome. Jay on reception was extremely helpful and informative. Everywhere is very clean. Not a very big room but perfectly adequate. Happy hour for wine 4-6. Free breakfast provided. Nothing was too much trouble. Would stay here again if we went back to San Fran.
Great location. Described as a 'boutique hotel's , not quite sure why. Rooms are comfortable. staff helpful. Complimentary breakfast (toast, waffles, fruit, muffin, cereal). Perfect location right next to the entrance to China Town. 5 min walk from Union square. 10 min walk from Powell Street. Lots of places to eat/takeaways within 20 min walk
Terrible front desk service, unauthorized charges, and dishonesty – avoid this hotel! We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. Despite having already paid for our room in advance, the front desk receptionist, Sophie, charged us again after we checked in—without informing us. On top of that, she also charged an additional $100 for “incidentals,” again without any explanation. We only discovered this when we went back to the reception and questioned the charges. Sophie casually said it was a “mistake” and that she had already reversed the transaction. We explained to her that as international travelers, we rely on access to our funds and she should have informed us immediately. She then claimed the money would be returned in two days, but we know from experience that such refunds usually take up to two weeks. We asked to speak to a manager or someone in authority, but Sophie told us there was no one available until Monday—only receptionists work during weekends, apparently. When we insisted on getting the general manager’s contact information, she provided us with a phone number. However, when we called it right in front of her, the phone simply rang inside the office. It was clear she was trying to deceive us and avoid accountability. This whole situation, the blocked funds on our card, and the lies we were told made us feel completely disrespected and taken advantage of. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who values honesty, transparency, and proper customer service.
