Hotel Union Geiranger Bad & Spa

This hotel manages to find a balance between historical and luxury. It’s a huge hotel and tour groups do come there a lot - one dinner was abandoned after a huge tour group took over the buffet - but aside from that, our stay was incredible. First the rooms are well appointed and the views are incredible. The breakfast is amazing and the dinner buffet was pretty decent. Usually we avoid buffets but it was included in our rate so we went.. and everything is made fresh and the selection is perfect. All the service was received was amazing from the front desk to housekeeping to the wait staff. Everyone spoke perfect English and was quick to help. But the highlight of the hotel is the spa. Definitely get the rate that includes spa access. There’s hot and cold water to explore and relaxation rooms to set you straight. We spent the whole afternoon there once. The pool and outdoor hot water spa are open to any guest, but the spa is extra. You can also get access if you sign up for treatments / the massage is great and the Turkish bath was unique and even better than a massage. One thing to note: the hotel is up the hill from the boats and bus drop off. You’ll either need to use the one taxi the town has or drag your luggage up the hill with cars whizzing by. Without luggage you can take the steps by the waterfalls but there’s a lot of them.

The view from the hotel is stunning, and there’s even a beautiful waterfall right next to it—such a peaceful setting. The breakfast was a highlight, with fresh sunny side up omelets and a great selection. Just a heads up: the parking lot can fill up in the evening, so try to arrive early if you’re driving. Overall, a great spot to relax and take in the beauty of Geiranger.

Amazing view from our room/balcony. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious and had black out shades. Parking was free and it was easy to find a spot. Nice friendly staff. Great dinner buffet and an a la cart order if you do not prefer the buffet. Breakfast was amazing with so many selections. The location and hotel was a great experience for us.
