We had a great week at this lovely hotel, the highlight being the staff who were all exceptional. The staff were lovely and really wanted to make our stay special and were great fun. We had a newly refurbished room that was comfortable and well appointed with large balcony looking out over the mountains, the only thing it lacked was a kettle, us English always like an early morning cup of tea!! We had dinner each evening which was very good and breakfast was a reasonable buffet. Excellent value and we hope to return.
Hotel Valacia is the place for great holidays in Pozza di Fassa. At first by its location. Just very convenient for the ski slopes: you just cross the road from the hotel parking, and you are on the last 100 meters of a slope (from the top 5 km red slope 😊) which takes you to the main lift to Pozza and Val di Fassa ski areas, and obviously get you back to your hotel with a nice long run. No car needed during your stay. See my comments at the end of this review for Sellaronda. Hotel Valacia offers everything you need to relax. At the end of the village, the area is quieter. 50 meters to a convenient store, and 5min walk to the village centre. The hotel has a car parking, ski heated room (direct access from the parking so very convenient, access with a code), and small but nice spa with outdoor jacuzzi, and a fitness room. Very comfortable rooms. We had 3 rooms in the new part of hotel. We saw the old part as well. Rooms seems spacious too, but just with older furniture and style (shown in photos). The breakfast and dinner are just great. Each day we had to make our next day dinner choice from 4 starters, 4 main dishes and 4 deserts. The Cook is definitely a great Chef. What a surprise to have this level of quality and choices. We understood that the owners are 2 brothers. One takes care of the reception /bar , very friendly and kind, ready to help despite of non-fluent English. And the other is the great Chef! That’s why we felt like home, thanks to this family run business. The cherry on the cake is the staff: just great and smart people, always smiling, always willing to help and to make your time there at its best. Great people! And they are the heart of this hotel success story. Thanks to Claudia and Claudio 🙏😉 . Saturday evening, we were welcome at the dinner with a good cocktail. After dinners, you can enjoy the bar , where several times in the week, there was one Italian playing piano and singing. For sure we will do everything to come back. Sellaronda: From the main lift to Pozza and Val di Fassa ski areas, , you can as well make the Sellaronda tour. Just make sure to have enough time back to Pozza ski area. Because from Col dei Rossi on the Sellaronda tour, you can expect queuing on the main lift to reach Alba and be able to go back in the Pozza ski area. And if you are not there before 15h30, you will have to get a ski bus back to Pozza, the bus stop is opposite of the hotel. The bus trip is about 20Km and 45min. We didn’t know about that, and we finish with the ski bus back at 19h at the hotel. A long day with no time to enjoy a break. So, for Sellaronda, don’t under- estimate the time from Pozza, and leave early morning. Expect a lot of people. And no time for long break. During the Sellaronda day we did 52km skiing, 45min bus and a lot of stress. Other days, staying in the Pozza ski area, we had an average of 40km skiing, time to enjoy breaks, and no stress…. That should be the way to enjoy holidays. 😊
I stayed at Valacia 7 nights. I liked the location of the hotel because it allows access on the slope a few meters from the hotel. The rooms are beautiful and with good sonic insulation and the hotel staff is friendly. I didn't like the food. In the morning I had only ham, cheese, boiled eggs and some cereals. For travelers who plans to stay 1 or 2 nights is OK but not for 7 days. No tomatoes or cucumber or any variation from a day to another, in the morning meal. Evening meal was of average quality compared to other similar hotels we stayed in last years. We eat but without pretending that the meal was a pleasant event. Except the food, the experience at hotel was good.
