Hotel Vale do Navio

Would definitely recommend Acorsonho.We stayed in an studio-apartment for 2 weeks. The rooms where a bit dated, but extremely clean. Big bathroom, big bath-shower combi, which was a bit high to get in. Kitchen had everything we needed. Big fridge & freezer. Good size balcony. The (fresh water)pool outside was a bit chilly, but there is also an inside swimming pool that was nice and warm. Hotel staff is lovely. Location is great as long as you have car, to visit all the beautiful places all over the island.

Hotel clearly sub-par for a 4-star hotel and appartements, it would barely merit 3 stars. Pro : staff is nice and helpful. rooms are clean. 2 swimming pools, parking lot. Cons : cheap, impersonal and old appartements, not very well equipped. Small bathroom, tiny balcony, barely any furniture (no drawer, unusable cupboards). 4-people appartment not convenient for 4, with 5 as in our case we step over each other. Room service must be explicitely ordered for said "ecological culture". You get 3 EUR credit for the bar for every day you don't use room service. To use it is bureaucratic. We were in 3 star accommodations in Azores which were to every aspect much, much better.

After check-in we were given apartment 111, which was a pretty run down room with a bad smell and unacceptable. I then asked for and got a room not on the first floor. Was on the 2nd floor facing the garden. Then went. Not worth 4 stars. We found a cockroach under the table in the Restaurant. Overall not a recommendable hotel. Hardly a 3 star Niceau from me.
