We recently returned to Hotel Van Zandt for a special weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. Having stayed here before and created wonderful memories, it felt like the perfect place to revisit — and it did not disappoint. We took advantage of the Summer Splash special, which included credits for the Pool Bar and Brass Poppy. At check-in, the staff warmly explained how the credits worked, and we immediately felt like VIPs. Their attention to detail and hospitality set the tone for the rest of our stay. Our accessible room was thoughtfully designed, especially the roll-in shower, which was ideal for my wife’s needs. It made a big difference in her comfort and enjoyment throughout the weekend. Everywhere we went — from the Pool Bar to Brass Poppy — the food was delicious, and the service was even better. The bartenders were genuinely friendly, always taking a moment to wish my wife a happy birthday and helping her feel truly celebrated. Check-out was seamless, and I really appreciated that all our credits had already been applied — no need to follow up or ask. That kind of smooth experience just reinforces how well this hotel takes care of its guests. All in all, this stay exceeded our expectations and made for a beautiful birthday celebration. We’ll definitely be back.
Stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located , but come prepared for a few quirks. My King corner room was spacious, spotless, and well-designed, with a very comfortable bed and large bath overlooking the street. Staff were welcoming and efficient throughout my stay. Be aware that there’s an additional $29/night amenity fee on top of taxes. Location-wise, you’re right next to Rainey Street, which is great if you want nightlife at your doorstep. The trade-off? On weekends, it can be noisy, music from nearby venues went on until around 2 AM. The hotel even provides a white noise machine by the bed, which tells you they know about the issue. The pool is a nice spot to relax, standard size for Austin hotels. On weekends it often hosts ticketed events. As a guest you get access, but it can get very busy. Overall, a high-quality hotel with a lively location, perfect for those who don’t mind a party vibe. Though if you want total peace and quiet, you may want to stay elsewhere.
We enjoyed our stay. The staff was kind and accommodating. However, the construction was awful and the pool parties/events did not let us enjoy and relax by the pool as much as we wanted. We did not have hot water on the last two days of our stay. An engineer came up right away to try to fix it and it did get a little better. The cold water at the front desk was amazing and we loved borrowing the bikes from the hotel. One suggestion in the rooms would be to add more hooks to accommodate a family of 4 with hanging towels and/or toiletries. Loved the bar on the first floor. Great place to have a drink and relax. We used the gym and it had all the equipment we needed. We also loved the cafe. Had coffee there each day.
