Hotel Villa Geyerswörth

We went to Bamberg for a weekend and stayed in Hotel Villa Geyersworth. Our stay was excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect, just two minutes walk and you enter the historic center. Our room was no 130 and from one of the windows we were overlooking the river and a path for walkers. The hotel has also its own parking space if you use a car. Our room was really spacious, nicely decorated, quiet, perfectly clean with all amenities plus a fridge and a coffee machine. Bed and pillows comfortable. The staff really nice and polite and breakfast included all things you might eat. In general it was an excellent stay and we would definitely stay here again.

Location couldn't be better! Parking available (for a fee). Breakfast included and very good selection. Rooms are clean and elegant.

Overall, we had a comfortable stay, but it was not the luxury 4-star experience we had anticipated. We stayed at Hotel Villa Geyerswoerth for a week, and paid between €210 to €240 per night for a deluxe double room. Although the hotel was nice enough, at this price, our expectations weren't met and we were left with an unpleasant feeling of having been overcharged. I can see that the same room is available on different dates for €160 per night, which feels like a more appropriate price. Pros - Comfortable mattress - Good shower - Room was clean (though we had some issues with bedding) - Air conditioning - Nice breakfast (though basic) Cons - Room was small and dated (though well maintained) - Intermittent WiFi (worked for us around 20% of the time) - No blackout curtains or shutters/rolladen - Pillows smelled of previous guests. Replacement pillows were provided, but were also a little smelly. - Small details expected of a 4-star hotel were missing e.g. there was no coffee machine in the room; only very basic toiletries were provided; hotel bar was an unviting set-up in the lobby; we expected something more special from the breakfast.
