We are happy with our hotel choice. Rooms are large by euro standards and have a mid century modern vibe. Nice balcony with a view and friendly staff. no coffee maker in the room but we asked for a kettle and got some instant from the supermarket across the road. easy access to the roads and a 20 minute walk to downtown or shopping mall. very good value for the price we paid. rooftop pool and bar was closed but not a big issue for us
My recent seven-night stay at the VIP Executive Azores Hotel offered a blend of comforts and frustrations. While the hotel has its merits, a few key areas could certainly benefit from improvement to truly live up to its four-star rating. On the positive side, the rooms are commendably spacious, providing ample room to relax. The bed was notably comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep, and the curtains were excellent at blocking out the morning sun, a definite plus for those who appreciate a dark room for sleeping. However, the tranquility was often disrupted by the poor soundproofing. I could easily hear my neighbors on both sides, which sometimes made for an unwelcome soundtrack to my evenings and mornings. The in-room entertainment was also a letdown; the television was quite small, and frustratingly, there was no option to connect a cable or a Chromecast, limiting viewing choices significantly. For those who enjoy staying active, the gym is a good size, offering enough space and equipment for a decent workout. Unfortunately, the maintenance was lacking, with rusty weights and some equipment visibly in disrepair. Despite this, I was still able to get a good workout in. I was disappointed to find that the sauna incurred a €10 charge per guest for an hour, which I felt was excessive and therefore opted not to use. Breakfast, while adequate, could definitely benefit from more variety for a four-star establishment. Furthermore, the weekend opening time of 7:30 AM felt rather late, especially for those looking to get an early start to their day. Finally, the staff were generally nice and accommodating. However, there were instances where a lack of training was apparent, leading to occasional inefficiencies.
Hotel entrance looks impressive but inside poorly maintained and really expensive hotel that does not reach to a 4 star level. The view from balcony and terrace (on top floor) was really good, but I would expect some kind of service at the terrace, but it was not any. Sun beds was all worn out. Staff and service about average in my opinion. Restaurant about average but really expensive, 32 euros. (Note: buffet and wine incuded) Room was ok, but just as a lot of other references, sounds from rooms close by could easily be heard through the walls, and a impression of not being really cleaned. Bathtub had old markings, leakage in shower handle. The quilt/blanket in the room actually had blood stains on it, and needed to be replaced without any proper excuse or compensation, other than reception said they do not replace it between bookings which sounds remarkable.. Gym equipment not maintained for years and outdated. Sorry about this negative feedback, but if I return I will choose another hotel.
