Hotel Vis a Vis

A very nice and beautiful rooms, but with a lot of drawbacks unfortunately. AirCon was extremely weak in my room (no. 3), basically non existing and I had to open the window to a very noisy street. Telephone was not working and the reception seems to have a different number then the one written on the telephone. then the whirl pool was also not working - mainly because it was absolutely impossible to fill the bathtub. Not enough water was flowing in and the water I got quickly disappeared as I was not able to seal the drain properly. Not good. And then there is no reception in this wing, in order to check in you have to go to the Grand Hotel across the street, same goes for the breakfast (which was really great for Italy). Finally there is not room service, not at all. I was not feeling well that evening and the weather was extremely bad - I had to go out and find a pizzeria to get something to eat on my room. This is not an experience I had expected in a hotel of this class. But the rooms are truly beautiful to look at!

Hotel is in an amazing location and staff are very nice but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. We went to check into hotel and were taken to the Grand Hotel across the street and then trek across the street to the Vis a Vis. We get into small glass elevator with our luggage only to get stuck twice- went up without luggage second time and door would not open. Staff come to our assistance saying we are over weight. We are average weight but I did pack a lot but honestly even the old elevators in Rome handled it so not sure why a modern elevator had issues. Get to our room and the bathroom is open to the room. There was supposed to be a glass sliding door but it has been removed. Small fridge in room does not work and room smells of smoke!!! Ugh!!!! It’s for one night and we are tired so we both settle in for the night! Well a big red sign is glowing outside of our window….think of the Seinfeld Kenny Roasters episode and you get the picture! Breakfast not included but costs 29 Euros Italian style or 39 Euros for American style.

At the hotel right now, rooms are not ready, we are past the check in time. They are not even extensing our check out time as a courtesy. Detecting attitude from the reception upon asking why they are late and don't have our rooms ready as it is well past the check-in time of 3 pm. Active construction going on and loud noises.
