A brilliant location which is right next to the city centre of Vienna and in the heart of the Vienna woods. There is something for everyone. Fantastic service and staff. Rooms are in a great condition. And most of all the food is excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Vienna and surrounding areas.
I stayed here recently for two nights as part of a coach tour of eastern Europe. The location, high in the Vienna woods, is spectacular, with dramatic views westward of the hilly Austrian countryside from our top floor balcony room. Ask for a balcony room if you get the chance. The hotel consists of three typical swiss-chalet style blocks, on three levels, and linked together by interior passages. The room itself was fine (once we found it - the two connected buildings are a maze of randomly connected corridors) and the fixtures and fittings were, while not recent, still perfectly good for our stay. Being part of a group, our evening meal was included, as was breakfast. The meal was served by staff in traditional dress - a nice idea - and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I can only comment on the evening food in a limited way since it was a modest two-option choice which was clearly imposed by how much our tour company were prepared to pay per head. Still, it was well cooked and presented. I expect the à la carte menu would have been excellent. Breakfast was the usual European buffet, and the quality was excellent. There is one other thing I feel I ought to mention. Apart from a couple of signs on the ground floor, there seemed to be no fire or emergency exit information anywhere. As I mentioned above, the routes around the top two stories were convoluted and confusing. I often bumped into people asking me how they could get down to the restaurant. If there were a fire on the ground floor on this hotel, I doubt many in the higher floor rooms would manage to find an exit. If you stay here, strongly recommend you familiarise yourself with the quickest way from your room to the nearest way out.
The place itself was nice, but they really need to do something about the pillows. They are way, way too soft. Like you are not sleeping with a pillow at all. And please, mrs owner, don't tell people that you can't change a pillow. You are the owner! and should be able to go anywhere. Being past 19:00 is not a valid excuse!
