I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Island during our visit with Hochschule Darmstadt, and I was truly impressed by the exceptional service we received. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the hotel prioritizes its guests’ comfort and satisfaction. The quality of both the breakfast and dinner was outstanding, with a variety of delicious options that exceeded my expectations. The service was extremely attentive, ensuring that all our needs were met promptly and with a smile. My room was cleaned immediately upon request, and the overall quality of the room was very comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. What stood out the most was the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Hotel Island. The openness and friendliness of the staff truly enhanced the experience. I can confidently say that I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-tier experience in Iceland.
The room was very nice and comfortable! Great shower, a fan included, blackout curtains. Spacious patio, though we would’ve really liked patio furniture. We did get an early check in which was great. I did manage to get to the spa, which was excellent! I had a lovely massage (they have a monthly deal, which I took advantage of) and enjoyed the great amenities. Breakfast was very crowded so we didn’t end up opting for it, so can’t comment there, but it seemed like a fair price. The food at Hekla was good as well. Location was a little far from the action, but overall we enjoyed our stay.
Upon arrival we found that we owed an additional $25 just to check in, apparently it's a "normal thing". The gym and spa were not included in standard rooms, which was not specified in the booking online. The breakfast was also not included which was an additional cost per person each morning. The room was not temperature controlled and the bed was serviceable at best. The staff cleaned and made the bed during the day which was nice, but they broke some sort of glass and we almost stepped on it when we got back. The staff was nice enough though.
