We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel. The location is beautiful and the view alone makes up for some of the shortcomings. The hotel is family run. Old and new generations of the family, working together. Some of the workers there seemed stressed, and we almost felt bad about asking about basic stuff. When we decided to check out a day early, the person we spoke with seemed offended or annyoyed to a point where we couldn't even get a proper goodbye out of them. We communicated about the early checkout on email the day before and didn't get a reply even if she said she got the mail. We would have gladly payed for the remaining day if we had been told to do so. Rather that than feeling like we did something we were not allowed to. The reception is often empty and you have to go look for personel. A single bell to ring or something would go a long way. The youngest staff were very kind and helpful, especially the girls manning the breakfast and helping around dinner did a great job. The breakfast was OK, with fresh scrambled eggs (or any type of egg) served directly from the kitchen. Good coffee. The pool area is nice, albeit with limited options outside of a small swim. The training room looked nice. The hotel itself, at least the part er stayed in, is in need of a refresh. The first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelled old and like it wasn't properly ventilated. This could probably be improved a lot by getting rid of the wall to wall carpets and keeping the door shut to the kitchen when they're cooking there. This would improve the first impression a lot! The room's are ok, but the bathroom in one of our rooms started by blowing out the lime scale filter in the bathtub faucet. Resulting in a whole lot of black sand/dirt falling into the tub. We didn't mention this to the crew, I'm sure they would have done something about it. Still, stuff like that is not expected at a four star hotel. We also read about a private beach, but this wasn't mentioned at check in which would have been nice. We didn't see it. We had dinner at the hotel one evening and waited over an hour for the main course. This is a long time with 3 relatively small kids. Also, we were almost last to be served the main course, even if we arrived quite early compared to others. Again, a more observant personel might have let the kids have their food early or at lest in the relative order of how long you've been waiting. I would rate this as a 3 star hotel. The area around the hotel has a lot of options for things to do. Remember to get the Camden card if you stay longer. The personel was good at informing us about options when we asked about it. In general their English is not the best which is not too unexpected in Austria.
