Great location to Bush stadium. They lock the doors to the main building at nine pm so you will need your room key to get back in which makes me feel safe due to the rough part of St Louis is just a block away. They have security offices guarding the parking lot at night so I did not have to worry about my car. Right on the Mississippi River. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was a little small with a king size bed and a living room. You can tell the building was a little older but they have kept real good care of it. Established friendly and gladly point out great places to eat.
When I first walked into the hotel, my initial impression was that the lobby was decent but noticeably dated by today’s standards. There was a strange, lingering fragrance throughout the area—it honestly smelled like someone tried to mask something unpleasant with too much air freshener, which made the atmosphere feel more awkward than inviting. The waterfall feature in the lobby is a nice visual touch, though nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the front desk staff left a poor impression. They were slow to assist, and I wasn’t able to check into my room until nearly an hour after the designated check-in time. What made it worse was the lack of any apology or empathy—they simply told me to keep checking back, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Now for the bright side: once I did get into my room, I was pleasantly surprised. We booked a double queen room and brought two children with us. The space was generous, with a separate area for sleeping and another for dining and relaxing. It was clean, well-organized, and overall much nicer than I expected—especially given some of the reviews I had read about cleanliness and bed bugs. Thankfully, we didn’t experience any of those issues. The hotel’s downtown location is convenient, and included parking is a plus. However, there are no dining options in the hotel itself. You’ll need to walk across the pedway to the connected casino area to find food. We ended up grabbing some pizza, which was decent. At checkout, I was almost charged for incorrect additional fees, so I’d highly recommend asking for an itemized receipt and double-checking your bill. In summary, I really appreciated the size and layout of the room—it’s a great option if you’re traveling with a group or family of 5–6. But between the outdated lobby, strange scent, and especially the rude and unhelpful staff, I personally wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
The hotel is dirty. The lobby isn’t cleaned, the fountain has residue all over, there is a distinct smell throughout the hotel. The dust on the vents in the bedroom seemed to be almost an inch thick. The bathroom looked as if it hadn’t been wiped down and cleaned as there were spots all over the floor and in the shower. The hotel has no smoking signs however we saw several guests walking around the hotel smoking. There is no pool, the elevators don’t work, and the WiFi doesn’t work. The hotel staff was unfriendly when we checked in and we had to pay an early check in fee of $15 to check in at 3:15 pm. When we walked to our room there were clearly several empty rooms, so it wasn’t as if the hotel was full and the early fee was warranted. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel as it was listed. I have stayed in nicer 2 star hotels. The only beneficial thing about staying here was the location. It is close to the Arch, and there is free parking. Next time we will spend the extra money to stay somewhere else and pay the parking fee.
